About us
Experts agree that the kind of aid, which is only sending money to Africa, does not produce the expected positive results. In order to help Africans to stand on their feet, it is best to focus on ways of assistance, which will lead to their ability to take care of themselves and their own needs.
One of the best ways to achieve this objective is the investment in education and practical training for a job. Another way is to help develop independent, viable projects. Therefore we, as the Integra Foundation are investing into the education of children, or into sustainable business ventures in Africa.
Already a basic education significantly increases the chances of getting a job or starting a small business to meet the basic needs of families. Kofi Annan (seventh Secretary General of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 2001) said
Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope ... Literacy is the foundation for democratization and tool to foster cultural and national identity. Especially for girls and women it is essential for a family health and nutrition. Literacy is ultimately the way to human progress and a tool through which every man, every woman and child can realize its full potential.
UNDP has identified education of girls as the most effective means to eradicate poverty in the world. We believe that every project should be aimed ad being sustainable and autonomus.
