Creating economic opportunities for a life of dignity for the vulnerable
Fair Trade
“It wouldn't cost much to change the rules of trade so that poor countries can work their way out of poverty. The world's leaders won't act unless they hear enough people telling them.”
Bono
Developing countries need to sell more products for a better price. Fair trade is one way how this can be accomplished.
Fair trade offers the producers in developing countries access to the world markets and to fair trading relations. It works under a simple principle: for a quality product or commodity, the producer receives a price which covers his production costs. In addition to minimal price, fair trade also pays a so called social premium. The social premium money is spent as an investment into quality improvement or diversification of production or to projects benefitting the whole community (construction of a school, roads, a hospital, etc.) Fair trade has become an important instrument of sustainable and healthy development of entire communities. Integra actively supports fair trade and in its activities. In 2006, it became a member of IFAT (International Fair Trade Association) and a part of the international fair trade community.
